Nature Girl - Lauren Kurmey

Lauren Kurmey has two great gifts. The first is the innate ability to sense the natural beauty in world that surrounds us. The second is to capture that beauty in illustration and share her vision through art. A play of light and color accentuating an emotional spirit within creatures that come alive. Her scenes bring out a magical wonder in her audience and remind us of the true beauty of the world… -Corry’s Aesthetics

About Lauren

Raised in Lethbridge, she's been saying “Hi" to wildlife on walks, IDing every bird she hears, and watching animals out her window for as long as she can remember. Her art, featured on handmade stickers, tote bags, prints, bookmarks (and more!) brings the wonder and whimsy of the outdoors in, making your space cozier and more relaxing, customizing your daily accessories, and encouraging people to open their hearts and connect with the amazing nature around them every day.

Vincent Brocke

I turn it in my hands. I feel the grain of the wood under my fingers, carefully smoothed and sanded. It is surprisingly light yet feels more solid, more real than modern counterparts made in factories. Mass produced clones for retail stores. There is a scent to it, a faint wooden aroma of sawdust and memory. My eyes follow the lines of the tree it grew from. Alternating light and dark bands tracking the years of it’s life. Here a swirling twist of colour around a knot, there a darker streak marking an ancient injury. Each detail worked by skilled hands to bring traditional beauty to a world cluttered with particle board, plastic and glue.

Nat’s Rocks

Inside the city is it always so loud. So much bustle and busy and worry and angst. It is too rare a precious moment that I let it all pause, and in quiet content, find joy in a simple stone, and find myself smiling. Nat’s Rocks grant that moment every time.

-Corry’s Aesthetics

Where the average person barely notices the stone beside the path, Natalie hears the voice of the rock telling her that it is more. She see’s a canvas, a sculpture, or a frame. Whether it is putting her own spin on a classic favorite or creating one of her unique originals, every piece to Nat’s Rocks collection is fashioned with a steady attention to detail and built to a rock solid quality standard. Ranging from the comedic to the whimsical, the clever to the contemplative; Nat’s designs bring a joy of the simple pleasures of life and natural warmth to any collector’s space.

In the small hamlet of Milk River, Alberta there is a sound. From an average looking garage behind an average looking house the ticking of an antique sewing machine can be heard. A cozy little shop with walls lined with wood-handled tools, neatly stacked leather and bottles of stains and oils. In the corner is an old Singer machine at which sits Kathy. Hands moving with the surety that comes with years of practiced craft. She guides the leather with care, running the stitches along the toughened hide to turn this rigid skin into something functional. On the bench behind her the carving tools, stamps and punches await the next step. To add a woman’s touch of art. To bring beuaty to function… -Corry’s Aesthetics

I love working with metal, gemstones, leather and wood

For many years I have sold handmade items to friends and by word of mouth. During Covid, I made a lot of different things and experimented with many different design ideas. This site represents the various jewelry items I have developed. My favorite gemstone is opal, but I will be combining other stones and materials in the future.

If there is something in particular that you are looking for or have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Originally I’m from Latvia (Eastern Europe). I’ve been doing art since I was a kid. I attended art school and then Art & Design College. I was always more drawn to painting, especially portraits. Later I discovered a quilling technique which is a 3D paper artform. Sometimes I combine the two techniques in my work. I’m obsessed with bright colours, contrast, patterns, and movement in art. I’ve always been inspired by street art, Renaissance paintings and Constructivist art.
